Guideline (Beginner,Concept) Be consistent with the direction of the Task Decomposition Link between a Task and a Softgoal.

This stable version of the Guideline Wiki Page displays the guideline as per the i* Style of the University of Toronto. Registered users can use 'Open Version' link right at the end of the guideline statement below to access the open version of this page

Discussion: The direction of the Task Decomposition Link should be from the main Task to the Softgoal. This type of link is used within Actors to decompose a task into Softgoals as shown in the illustration or into other elements such as Tasks, Resources, and Goals. In this illustration’s particular example, the Softgoal component “Project Management Be Efficient” is a quality attribute or non-functional requirement that has been introduced for the Task “Manage Product Development Project”. This Softgoal component can be refined further into other Tasks or Softgoals, which can me be used to guide the selection among alternatives for the main Task and the sub Tasks.
