Discussion: Progressive elaboration guideline is a methodology that helps the beginner modeler to keep creating, modifying, and building upon the basic model, in an organized way to achieve the goals of the modeler. It makes SD/SR modeling more systematic as models evolve. While this guideline might be useful for students or beginner modelers, it might not be necessarily true for advanced users in all scenarios. The objective of presenting this example here is not to go through the internal logic or content of the case, but to illustrate an example of progressive elaboration. Please refer to “Montreux Jazz Festival i* Exercise based on Osterwalder Ph.D. Thesis presentation” by Horkoff (2004) for more details about this case.
